Early Childhood Family Education

Distance Learning to start the school year (Fall 2020)

 

ECFE is Open for Families! 

 

What to Expect in ECFE

  • All classes will be held via Distance Learning, 
  • There will be no fees for Distance Learning  
  • Every child signed up to participate will receive a free Learning Kit which will include materials appropriate to each child’s age birth to 5.  
  • Each kit includes a book and toys that teachers will refer to during distance learning. 
  • Tablets and internet hotspots can be provided if requested by the family. 
  • If MPS transitions to a hybrid or fully on-site model, ECFE will transition as well. 
  •  When we return to in person education we will reinstate our sliding fee scale.  

 

What to Expect in the Early Childhood Part of ECFE

  • Teachers will hold a live weekly Circle Time with songs, read-alouds, and the introduction of learning activities. 
  • Teachers will post weekly learning activities for parents and caregivers to do at home with their children. 
  • Teachers will be available during the week for one on one check-ins with parents and children. 

 

What to Expect in the Parent Education Part of ECFE

  • Teachers will hold weekly Parent Education discussions at designated times. 
  • Teachers will be available during the week for one on one check-ins with parents. 

 

What to Expect in a Home Visit

  • Will be conducted via a telephone, Google Meet, or socially-distanced, outside visit - weather permitting.

Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE)

ECFE is a program for all Minnesota families with children between the ages of birth to Kindergarten. ECFE's goal is to enhance the ability of all families to provide the best possible environment for their child's learning and growth. This is an opportunity all families can benefit from.

Parent Networks

Invite 8-12 of your friends to your Google Meet for a two-hour personalized parent education session. Together with an Early Childhood professional, you will choose a date, time and topic for your group. The educator will arrive with materials and facilitate a discussion. The fee is $10 per participant. Call 612.668.2134 to schedule a consultation.

Home Visits

Do you have questions about parenting, your child’s development or how to help your child be ready for kindergarten?
