Through an innovative partnership between Minneapolis Public Schools and Minneapolis Community & Technical College (MCTC), teen parents and other high school students have the opportunity to earn free college credits as they pursue their high school degree.
The program, Destination: Diploma to Degree (D3), provides critical supports to students while breaking down barriers to attaining a college degree.
Supports include staff who work closely with students to advise them as they complete their high school degree and begin college. D3 also connects students to cultivate friendships and a strong sense of community which are integral to student success.
D3 students who continue their post-high school education at MCTC also receive priority placement in the Power of You, a program that provides free tuition and assists with the cost of books, transportation, meals and other incentives.
Qualifying D3-MCTC students can then transfer to Augsburg College to complete their bachelor’s degree on a full-ride scholarship. Childcare and free transportation are provided to D3 students while they take their college courses.
Information on eligibility requirements and the application process is available at the D3 website; students should speak with their high school counselor or other trusted school staff to explore this amazing opportunity.
