Welcome to Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE)

Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) is a program for all Minnesota families with children between the ages of birth to kindergarten entrance.  ECFE's goal is to enhance the ability of all parents and other family members to provide the best possible environment for their child's learning and growth.  This is an opportunity all parents and young children can benefit from!  Click here for more information on ECFE programming.

Drop in Play and Learn!
Come enjoy our Early Childhood classrooms without the commitment of an ongoing class! We are opening up some of our rooms for drop in play with a Parent Educator on hand to answer any questions about parenting or child development. $5 suggested donation per visit. NEW | Parent Networks
Invite 8-12 of your friends to your home for a two-hour personalized parent education session. Together with an Early Childhood professional, you will choose a date, time and topic for your group. The educator will arrive at your home with materials and facilitate a discussion. Fee is $10 per participant. Call 612.668.2144 to schedule a consultation.

Home Visits
Do you have questions about parenting, your child’s development or how to help your child be ready for kindergarten? We will send an Early Childhood professional to answer questions and share activities for you and your child to do together. For more information, call 612.668.2144. 

Webster School is the ECFE site for Alphabet SoupOnline Parenting Classes
Our online parenting classes allow you to access research based parenting information on a variety of topics at your convenience. Work on assignments to build your understanding and skills and participate in a parent educator facilitated live chat weekly with other parents via GoToMeeting. Online classes run 5-6 weeks but the materials can be accessed throughout the school year. Check the catalog above for current courses!

Online Parenting Topics
Our online parenting information allows you to access research based parenting information on a variety of topics at your convenience. Read the resources we've gathered for you to build your understanding and skills regarding setting limits, toilet learning, empathy, brain development and more. For one flat fee you can access the materials for the entire school year. Check the catalog above for current courses!

LENA Start is a parent education program that was developed by the LENA Research Foundation (LRF). LENA Start is an 8-session program for parents of infants and toddlers. Over the course of the program, parents use LENA technology to monitor their child’s language environment, track progress, and set goals. Graduates of the program are invited to attend an additional 8 sessions to promote accelerated language development and sustain gains achieved during the program.  Sign up for the ECFE LENA Smarter, Happier Baby class next semester.

Alphabet Soup
Alphabet Soup is a preschool for three-year-olds. It is a collaborative program of Early Childhood Family Education and Early Childhood Special Education that is taught by licensed teachers who use a curriculum based on State Standards. Children must be three by September 1, 2017. Tuition is based on the ECFE sliding fee scale. Located at Webster School, 425 5th Street NE, Mpls., MN. 55413. To Register for Alphabet Soup click here
